Councillor
Julie Buckland
Julie and her family moved to Preston from Hitchin in 2021.
Julie works as a teaching assistant at Preston Primary school. She joined the local cricket club in 2024, being a part of the first ever ladies’ team in Preston although still finding her feet on all the rules of play! She enjoys organising seasonal events for friends in the village and also enjoys attending village activities run by The Preston Trust.
Julie’s family are dairy farmers in Somerset and she has previously worked for NFU Mutual gaining lots of knowledge of rural life. She has a strong creative side, currently enjoying pottery. She loves being active, be it playing different local sports to walking her two dogs in the local countryside. Both she and her husband enjoy visiting The Red Lion pub, where they are shareholders and her husband is a board member. Her two children attend Hitchin Boys and Hitchin Girls schools.
Julie is keen to support the village and its residents and to keep the village maintained for current and future generations to enjoy and thrive within its beautiful surroundings.
